South Korea rewards travellers who go beyond Seoul, and this ten-day itinerary is built to do exactly that. You'll start in the capital — palaces, hanok villages and the fastest-moving street life in Asia — before heading south by high-speed rail to Gyeongju, the thousand-year capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom, and on to Busan, Korea's laid-back second city on the coast. The trip closes on Jeju Island, a UNESCO-listed volcanic landscape of lava tubes, crater peaks and a completely different pace.
Each stop is a different Korea. Seoul is palaces, Buddhist temples and hyper-modern city life side by side. Gyeongju is often called "the museum without walls" — royal tombs, ancient observatories and the UNESCO World Heritage temple of Bulguksa scattered through an ordinary-looking city. Busan trades palaces for seaside energy — Haeundae Beach, the pastel houses of Gamcheon Culture Village, and Jagalchi, Korea's largest fish market. Jeju, reached by a short flight, is where the trip exhales — a volcanic island of lava tubes, tea fields and the dramatic Sunrise Peak.

Gyeongbokgung, the largest and first of Korea's Five Grand Palaces, built in 1395, alongside Bukchon Hanok Village's 600-year-old streets of traditional houses between the royal palaces.
Gyeongju, the Silla capital
Once one of the largest cities in the ancient world, Gyeongju holds the UNESCO World Heritage temple of Bulguksa, the Seokguram Grotto's granite Buddha, and Cheomseongdae — the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in East Asia.
Busan's coast & culture
Korea's most famous urban beach at Haeundae, the pastel-painted hillside of Gamcheon Culture Village — nicknamed Korea's Santorini — and the fresh-off-the-boat energy of Jagalchi Fish Market.
Jeju's volcanic landscapes
A UNESCO World Heritage island of lava tubes and tuff cones — Seongsan Ilchulbong's dramatic Sunrise Peak, Manjanggul's ancient lava tube, and Hallasan, South Korea's highest mountain.
Your 10-day itinerary

You're met at Incheon International Airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Settle in, then ease into the city at your own pace — the restaurants and night markets around Myeongdong are an easy first outing.
A guided tour through royal Seoul: Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest of the Five Grand Palaces, followed by a walk through Bukchon Hanok Village's centuries-old streets of traditional houses. The afternoon takes in the antique lanes of Insadong before the day winds down.
A day for the city's modern face — Namsan Seoul Tower for skyline views, the street-food stalls of a traditional market, and Myeongdong's shopping streets. An optional evening K-pop or K-culture experience can be added on request.
A high-speed KTX train south to Gyeongju, capital of the Silla Kingdom for close to a thousand years. In the afternoon, an orientation through the Wolseong Belt — the royal tumuli tomb park and Cheomseongdae, East Asia's oldest surviving astronomical observatory.
A full day at Gyeongju's UNESCO World Heritage temple complex — Bulguksa's stone terraces and twin pagodas, then the short climb to Seokguram Grotto, where a granite Buddha carved in the 8th century still gazes toward the East Sea.
A short onward KTX journey to Busan, Korea's seaside second city. Check in near Haeundae Beach, Korea's most famous stretch of sand, with the rest of the day free to walk the promenade or relax.
A full day through Busan's most photographed neighbourhood — the pastel-painted hillside homes and murals of Gamcheon Culture Village, nicknamed Korea's Santorini — followed by Jagalchi Fish Market, Korea's largest seafood market, for a hands-on look (and taste) of the catch.
A short flight to Jeju, South Korea's volcanic island. In the afternoon, Seongsan Ilchulbong — Sunrise Peak — a tuff cone rising 182 metres from the sea, with a well-kept trail to the crater rim and sweeping coastal views.
A day through Jeju's UNESCO-listed geology — Manjanggul, one of the finest lava tube systems in the world, followed by time at the foot of Hallasan, South Korea's highest mountain, with a shorter trail option for those not tackling the full crater-lake summit hike.
Enjoy a final breakfast before transferring to Jeju International Airport for your onward or connecting flight. Prefer to fly home via Seoul with a final night in the capital? We can build that in.

This itinerary uses KTX high-speed rail between Seoul, Gyeongju and Busan, and a short domestic flight from Busan to Jeju. Whether these are priced into the package above or quoted as an add-on is confirmed with your operator before booking.

Best time to visit
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most popular seasons, with mild weather and cherry blossoms or autumn colour. Summers are hot and humid with a monsoon season; winters are cold, especially inland — we'll advise on timing for your dates.
Currency
The South Korean Won (KRW). Cards are very widely accepted, including on public transport with a T-money card; carry some cash for smaller traditional-market stalls.
Getting between regions
KTX high-speed trains connect Seoul, Gyeongju and Busan in comfort and speed, with short domestic flights linking to Jeju Island. We build all of these transfers into the itinerary.
Packing light helps
With four stops and one flight, a soft-sided bag or a suitcase you're comfortable moving through train stations and airports repeatedly makes the trip smoother than one large hard case.
Dress code
Bulguksa Temple and other religious sites appreciate modest, respectful dress. Comfortable walking shoes matter throughout — palaces, temple complexes and Jeju's trails all involve a fair amount of walking.
Visas & documents
Entry requirements depend on your passport. Many nationalities enter South Korea visa-free for short stays via the K-ETA system or similar, but please check based on your nationality — we're happy to point you in the right direction.

Yes — that's a starting price, per person, for the 10-day itinerary based on twin-share accommodation. It covers your hotels across all four regions, daily breakfast, airport and listed intercity transfers, the sightseeing in the itinerary, selected entrance fees and local assistance. The final figure depends on your travel dates, hotel choice, group size, whether the KTX and domestic flight legs are included or quoted separately, and whether you'd like it private — so we confirm an exact quote when you enquire.
How do we get between Seoul, Gyeongju, Busan and Jeju?
Seoul to Gyeongju and Gyeongju to Busan run on Korea's KTX high-speed rail — fast, comfortable and scenic. Busan to Jeju is a short domestic flight, since Jeju is an island. We handle the transfers to and from each station and airport.
Are international flights or the KTX and domestic flight included?
International flights into and out of South Korea aren't included unless stated in your quote. The KTX legs and the Busan–Jeju flight within this itinerary are confirmed with your operator as either included in the package price or quoted as an add-on — we'll make this clear before you book.
Is 10 days enough to see all four regions properly?
Ten days gives each region a genuine look rather than a rushed pass-through — three full days in Seoul, two in Gyeongju, two in Busan and three including travel in Jeju. If you'd rather focus on fewer regions with more depth, we can drop a stop — most commonly Jeju or Gyeongju — and extend the others.
Can this itinerary be customised or run privately?
Absolutely — this is a template, not a fixed package. Run it fully private, add nights in any city, upgrade the hotels, or swap Jeju for a DMZ day trip or a Jeonju hanok stay. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll shape the route around it.
Do I need a visa for South Korea?
It depends on your nationality. Many travellers enter visa-free for short stays via the K-ETA electronic travel authorisation or similar arrangements, but requirements change, so please verify based on your own passport before you travel. We're glad to point you to the right official source.
