You're met at Da Nang International Airport and driven down the coast road to Hoi An, roughly 45 minutes to your centrally located hotel. Settle in, then take your first unhurried walk through the Old Town as the lanterns come on — a glass of something cold by the river is the easiest way to start.
A guided morning through the Old Town's assembly halls, the Japanese Covered Bridge and the merchant houses that made Hoi An one of Asia's great trading ports. After a free afternoon to browse the tailor shops and cafés, the evening is set aside for the highlight of the trip — a private lantern boat along the Thu Bon River.
An easy morning cycle out through rice paddies and quiet lanes to Hoi An's countryside, ending at a water coconut village where a round basket boat carries you through the palms. Return for a relaxed afternoon and, if you'd like, a couples' cooking class or spa treatment — both easy to add.
A short transfer to Hoi An's coastline for a day built around doing very little — a swim, a walk along the sand, a long lunch of fresh seafood. As the sun drops, the beach is one of the best spots on this coast to watch it go down together.
A final breakfast and, depending on your flight, a little free time for last-minute tailoring pickups or one more coffee by the river. Before you go
Best time to visit
Hoi An is warm year-round, with a wetter season roughly October to December, when the Old Town can flood at high tide. The drier months from February to August are generally the most comfortable for cycling and beach days — we'll advise on timing for your dates when you enquire.
Currency
The Vietnamese Dong (VND). Cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants; carry cash for the Old Town's tailors, markets, lantern boats and small vendors.
Old Town access
Hoi An's Ancient Town charges a small entrance ticket that grants access to a set number of heritage sites — assembly halls, old houses and the Japanese Covered Bridge. Your guide will help you choose which to visit.
The countryside ride
The cycling is flat and easy, suitable for most fitness levels, with e-bikes available on request. Wear closed shoes for the basket boat and pack a change of clothes — a little splash is part of the fun.
