You begin in Kuala Lumpur — the Petronas skyline, the temples of Chinatown and the after-dark hum of the hawker lanes — before heading north to Penang, whose capital, George Town, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008 and is widely rated one of Asia's great street-food cities.
From heritage and food you move to sand and sea: Langkawi, an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, a UNESCO Global Geopark and duty-free island known for its beaches, its rainforest-clad peaks and the vertigo-inducing Langkawi Sky Bridge. Your 8-day itinerary
City first, heritage and food in the middle, island to finish — a natural build from busy to blissful, with breakfast daily and all listed transfers included.
Met at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Settle in and ease into the city at your own pace, with an optional first-night wander through the hawker lanes for satay and noodles.
A guided city tour of the capital: the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC park, colonial Merdeka Square, and the temples and trading streets of Chinatown, with time for local food and a little shopping.
After breakfast you travel north to Penang and check in around George Town. The afternoon is a first taste of the UNESCO old town — heritage shophouses, five-foot ways and, as evening falls, the island's legendary street food.
A full day exploring Penang: the street-art murals and steel-rod sculptures of the heritage core, the waterfront clan jetties, Fort Cornwallis, and the hilltop Kek Lok Si — one of the largest Buddhist temples in Malaysia — with plenty of stops to eat along the way.
Travel on to Langkawi, Malaysia's best-loved island escape. Arrive, check in near the beach, and spend the rest of the day at leisure — toes in the sand, a swim, and a sunset over the Andaman Sea.
Ride the SkyCab cable car up Gunung Mat Cincang for the curved Langkawi Sky Bridge and views across the archipelago, then take in island highlights such as Eagle Square at Kuah. The afternoon is yours for the beach or a dip in the pool.
A relaxed day to do as much or as little as you like. Add an island-hopping boat trip or a Kilim mangrove tour, browse the duty-free shops, or simply stay on the sand. We'll suggest the best options and book them for you.
A final island breakfast and, depending on your flight, some last beach time before your transfer to the airport for your onward journey — or, if you'd like to extend, we can add nights or link this trip to another Malaysian escape.

Before you go
Best time to visit
Malaysia is warm year-round. Penang and Langkawi, on the west coast, are generally driest and best for beaches roughly from December to April. We'll advise on timing when you enquire.
Getting between cities
The moves between Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi are covered as intercity transfers where applicable — typically short domestic flights or a ferry. Exact arrangements are confirmed with your quote.
Currency & duty-free
The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR / RM). Cards are widely accepted; carry cash for hawker stalls and markets. Langkawi is a duty-free island — handy for chocolate, cosmetics and the odd souvenir.
Dress code at temples
Kek Lok Si and the temples and mosques of George Town are places of worship — shoulders and knees should be covered. Lightweight, breathable clothing suits the climate.
Visas & documents
Entry requirements depend on your passport. Many nationalities enter Malaysia visa-free for short stays, but please check based on your nationality — we're happy to point you in the right direction.

How do we travel between Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi?
The intercity legs are handled as transfers where applicable — usually a short domestic flight or a ferry, depending on the routing and your dates. We arrange these to fit the itinerary and confirm the exact mode and timings with your quote.
Are international flights included?
No — international flights into and out of Malaysia aren't included unless we've specifically stated so in your quote. We can advise on convenient arrival and departure points and match your transfers to your flights.
Can the itinerary be customised or extended?

Very. The pace is comfortable and the mix of city, culture and beach suits couples, families and groups of friends alike. Expect some walking in George Town's heritage streets, and note that the Langkawi cable car and Sky Bridge are optional for anyone not keen on heights.
