The Maldives is made up of 26 natural atolls and over a thousand coral islands scattered across the Indian Ocean — and for a honeymoon, the entire appeal is choosing just one of them and staying put. This seven-day escape puts you on a private island resort in an overwater villa, with nothing on the agenda you don't choose yourself.
The days find their own rhythm: snorkelling the house reef steps from your door, a sandbank picnic with nothing but sea in every direction, an evening dhoni cruise as the sun drops and — if you're lucky — dolphins riding the bow wave, and a couples' spa treatment in a glass-floored villa above the lagoon. Meals, transfers and the essentials are arranged; the rest of the week is intentionally left open.
You'll fly into Malé's Velana International Airport, then transfer on to your resort island by speedboat or seaplane — the method depends on which atoll your resort sits in, and is confirmed once your resort is selected. Wake up over the water, with steps down into the lagoon from your own deck — the defining image of a Maldives honeymoon, and the centre of the whole week.
House reef & sandbank time
Snorkel a coral house reef right off the island, then take a boat out to a private sandbank — nothing around you but sea, sand and each other.
A sunset dolphin cruise
An evening dhoni cruise timed for the last light of the day, with a good chance of spinner dolphins riding the bow wave as the sky turns.
A couples' spa treatment over the lagoon
An overwater spa session for two, often in a glass-floored villa with the reef and its fish visible right beneath you as you relax.
Your 7-day itinerary
Deliberately light on structure — a honeymoon should set its own pace. Breakfast is included daily; the rest of the week is yours.
You land at Velana International Airport in Malé, where your resort's team meets you and arranges the onward transfer — by speedboat or seaplane, depending on the atoll — direct to the island. You're welcomed, shown to your overwater villa, and left to settle in. The rest of the day is yours: unpack slowly, swim off your own deck, and watch your first Maldivian sunset.
After breakfast, snorkel the resort's house reef — most private islands have coral and reef fish within a short swim of the shore or your own villa steps. No boat, no schedule; just mask, fins and the water right there. The afternoon is open for the pool, the beach, or simply doing nothing.
A short boat ride to a private sandbank — a stretch of pure white sand rising out of the lagoon with nothing else on it. Many resorts set up a picnic or lunch here; it's typically the most photographed day of a Maldives honeymoon, and for good reason.
A couples' treatment at the resort's spa — many are built over the lagoon, some with glass floor panels so you can watch the reef beneath you mid-massage. The rest of the day stays unscheduled: a swim, a nap, a long lunch with a view.
Late in the afternoon, board a traditional dhoni for a cruise out into open water as the sun starts to drop. Spinner dolphins are a regular sight in Maldivian waters, often riding the boat's bow wave — and even without them, the sunset alone is worth the trip out.
A final full day left open on purpose — repeat your favourite from earlier in the week, add an optional diving or fishing excursion, or simply stay by the water. It's your last full day on the island; spend it however suits you best.
A final breakfast, then the transfer back to Malé for your onward or connecting flight, timed against your international departure. Want a night in Malé itself, or an extra sea day before you fly? We can build that in.

Best time to visit
The Maldives is warm year-round. The dry season, roughly December to April, brings the calmest seas and clearest water; the wetter season from May to November still has plenty of sun, with short showers and better rates. We'll advise on timing for your dates.
Getting to your resort
From Malé, resorts close to the capital use a speedboat transfer (15–90 minutes); resorts on further atolls use a scenic seaplane, which only operates in daylight. Which one applies depends on the resort selected — this is confirmed once your island is chosen.
Currency
The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), though resorts typically price and bill in US dollars. Cards are accepted almost everywhere on resort islands; there's little need for cash.
One island, by design
Most Maldives resorts occupy a single small island — there's no "going into town" once you arrive. That's the appeal for a honeymoon, but worth knowing if you like variety; ask us about pairing two islands if you'd rather split the week.
What to pack
Light resortwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and a rash guard if you plan to snorkel often. The Maldives is a Muslim country — cover up modestly in Malé itself, though resort islands are far more relaxed.

Which resort does this package use?

Speedboat or seaplane — which will we get?
It depends entirely on your resort's atoll. Resorts in North or South Malé Atoll usually use a speedboat (15–90 minutes, runs any time of day or night); resorts further out typically use a scenic seaplane, which only flies in daylight. We'll confirm which applies once your resort is chosen, and time your international flight accordingly.
Are international flights included?
