Bays, mountains & the capital
Hanoi's Old Quarter and lakes, the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, the rice terraces of Sapa, and the caves and rivers of Ninh Binh — all within a few hours of each other.
A country that runs the length of a coastline — limestone bays in the north, imperial cities and lantern-lit towns in the centre, and the mekong and its floating markets in the south. Explore what makes Vietnam special, then choose from our full range of Vietnam journeys, each arranged end to end.
Vietnam stretches over 1,600 kilometres along the South China Sea, and the shape of the country is the shape of the trip: the north is mountains, rice terraces and Ha Long Bay's limestone karsts; the centre holds the old imperial capital and the lantern-lit trading port of Hoi An; the south is the fast, modern energy of Ho Chi Minh City and the slow waterways of the Mekong Delta. Few countries change character this completely from one end to the other.
Vietnam is also, unmistakably, a food country — pho, banh mi, bun cha and fresh spring rolls are as central to a visit as any temple or landscape, and the hawker stalls and family-run kitchens of Hanoi and Hoi An are where the food is often at its best. Add French colonial architecture, Cham and Confucian heritage, and a rapidly modern present, and Vietnam rewards a trip that moves rather than settles in one place.
Vietnam holds UNESCO World Heritage status in Ha Long Bay, the ancient town of Hoi An, the imperial city of Hue, and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park's cave systems. Below is a quick orientation, followed by every Vietnam journey we offer.
A quick way to think about where to go — the mountains and bays of the north, the heritage coast of the centre, and the delta and cities of the south.
Hanoi's Old Quarter and lakes, the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, the rice terraces of Sapa, and the caves and rivers of Ninh Binh — all within a few hours of each other.
The lantern-lit ancient town of Hoi An, the imperial tombs and citadel of Hue, and Da Nang's beaches and Golden Bridge — Vietnam's most concentrated heritage stretch.
Ho Chi Minh City's markets and war history, the Cu Chi tunnels, the floating markets and canals of the Mekong Delta, and the beach islands of Phu Quoc offshore.
Thousands of limestone karsts rising from the Gulf of Tonkin, best seen from an overnight cruise among the islands and caves.
Pho, banh mi, bun cha, fresh spring rolls and Hue's imperial cuisine — a food scene built on street stalls, fresh herbs and centuries of regional variation.
Hoi An's lantern-lit ancient town and Hue's Nguyen Dynasty citadel are UNESCO-listed and still lived in — not museum pieces, but working towns with centuries of layered history.
Sapa's terraced hillsides, carved over generations by Hmong and Dao farming communities, are among the most photographed landscapes in Southeast Asia.
The floating markets and canals of the Mekong Delta, junk boats in Ha Long Bay, and the fishing villages of the central coast all centre on the water rather than the road.
The Cu Chi tunnels and Ho Chi Minh City's war-history sites let travellers engage directly with a defining chapter of the 20th century.

View packageVietnam's length means no single season suits the whole country. The north (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Sapa) is coolest and driest October to April; the centre (Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang) is driest February to July; the south (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc) is warm year-round with a wetter season May to October. We'll advise on timing for your route.
The Vietnamese Dong (VND). Cards are accepted in cities and hotels; carry cash for street food, markets and small vendors, especially outside major cities.
Domestic flights connect Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City quickly; road transfers link nearby stops such as Hanoi–Ninh Binh or Da Nang–Hoi An. We build the transfers into every itinerary.
Requirements depend on your passport — many nationalities can enter visa-free for short stays or apply for an e-visa online in advance. Please check for your nationality, and we'll point you to the right source.
Light, breathable clothing for the south and centre, a warmer layer for northern evenings and Sapa's mountain air, comfortable walking shoes, and modest cover-ups for temples and pagodas.
A single region (Hanoi, Hoi An, or Ho Chi Minh City) works as a long weekend; covering north, centre and south properly wants ten days or more. Not sure? Tell us your dates and we'll shape the right length.
If it's your first visit and you want the full picture, the Grand Discovery or Classic Highlights routes cover north, centre and south. Short on time or focused on one region? The city, heritage and beach escapes each do one thing well. Travelling with kids, or built around food? The Family Holiday and Food & Culture Journey are shaped for that. Tell us your priorities and we'll point you to the best fit — or build a blend.
Yes — every package here is a starting point, not a fixed departure. Add nights, upgrade hotels, run it privately, or combine a northern itinerary with a central or southern add-on. Send us what you have in mind and we'll shape one itinerary around it.
For the long legs — Hanoi to Da Nang, or Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City — a short domestic flight is the practical choice and what we build into most itineraries. Shorter, scenic legs such as Hanoi to Ninh Binh or Da Nang to Hoi An work well by road. We confirm the right mode for each leg when we quote your trip.
International flights into and out of Vietnam aren't included unless stated in your quote. Where an itinerary needs domestic flights between regions, we'll confirm whether those are included in the package price or quoted separately, so it's clear before you book.
Open the package that interests you and send an enquiry with your rough dates and traveller numbers, or contact us directly if you'd like help choosing. We'll come back with a tailored quote and next steps — no obligation, and no payment needed to get a proposal.
Not sure which journey fits? Tell us your dates, who's travelling and what you're drawn to — heritage, mountains, beaches or food — and we'll recommend the right package or build a tailored one from scratch.
